Jeffery Sayle was a true Randwick legend who inspired a whole generation of Rugby champions through one of the greatest rugby’s clubs in the world, his loss cannot be measured in the matter of words, the man was loved in every sector of the community.

Jeffrey was known for his colourful personality and knock about character, his second passion was Coogee Surfclub, the man loved Coogee.

During a stellar career from 1961 -1980 Jeffery played 379 grade games, 160 first grade, played 1 test for the Wallabies, received the centenary award in 2001, received the order of Australia for Rugby Services and services to Coogee Surfclub in 2006, was president of Randwick Rugby.

What Jeffrey will truly be remembered for is his sense of humour, his love of his mates and rugby fraternity, and his ability to get the best out of people in general. NGFarah partner Ken Smith was introduced to Jeffrey in 1975 at Matraville

High School according to Ken, Jeffrey had a soft spot for the Matraville highs school boys who always produced their fair share of champions, players like the Ellar brothers, Russell Fairfax David Knocks and Lloyd Walker, just to name a few.

Ken said "Jeffrey had a lot to do with the development of thee kids and how important it was to represent your country in Rugby Union, players loved him and played for him, former Australian Rugby Coach Michael Chieka said, Jeffery taught me first and foremost how to love the game of Rugby, his contribution, cannot be measured."

I had a personal relationship with Jeffrey and he had the ability to make me feel special, NGFarah signed up as majors sponsors of Randwick Rugby in 2002 for a period of 10 years and If not for Jeffrey Sayle we would have never stayed on for that long. He was often seen in the Coogee Diggers in the steam room, and the sauna and always had something positive to say, he will be sadly missed not only by his best mates, The Randwick Rugby family, by the Coogee surf club community and by just everyday locals who Jeffrey always made time for.
